Land Use/Land Cover 3 (burned area identification)

9th Geospatial Intelligence Challenge (GI9)

Challenge Description

The goal of this challenge is to detect burned areas based on the relationships of indices from optical images as well as backscatter signals from SAR images. This methodology is based on data from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2, as well as on the output of two previous challenges developed in BETTER previous years (e.g. water and vegetation indexes with optical data and change detection with SAR data). Outputs processing from Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 are cross-validate in a final product. The promoter of this challenge is the European Union Satellite Centre.
